Solarcentury Africa and Sino Energy are jointly developing a 20 MWp solar PV plant in Namibia—the first fully merchant solar IPP in Southern Africa to trade power on the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP). Scheduled for commissioning in Q4 2025, the project will generate 51 GWh annually and offset over 8,600 tonnes of CO₂.
It also retains the option to supply power locally under Namibia’s Modified Single Buyer rules, paving the way for more flexible, market-driven renewable energy projects in the region.
