Solarcentury wins for “Clean Growth” in the inaugural UK-Spain Business Awards
The British Embassy in Spain and the Department for International Trade (DIT) have awarded Solarcentury in the “Clean Growth” category at the inaugural UK-Spain Business Awards. The initiative is a collaboration between the British Chamber of Commerce in Spain and the Bank of Santander in celebration of the commercial relationship between the UK and Spain.
The gala event was held on Thursday, 20th February, at the Palacio de la Bolsa in Madrid. It was hosted by the British Ambassador in Spain and Andorra, Hugh Elliott, and the UK Trade Commissioner for Europe, Andrew Mitchell.
Neil Perry, Solarcentury’s CFO, received the “Clean Growth” award from Carmen Becerril, President of OMIE (Operador del Mercado Ibérico de Energía) and AEMENER (Asociación Española de Mujeres en Energía).
Neil Perry said: “This award makes us proud of all our hard work , and our efforts and contribution to creating a more sustainable world. Renewable energy, and particularly solar energy, must lead the way in generating energy and replacing fossil fuel sources that are significantly damaging the environment and life on Earth.”
The British Embassy in Spain and the DIT has awarded Solarcentury for its involvement in the fight against climate chaos and the favourable impact of investments in Spain. “The Department for International Trade (DIT) is delighted to support Solarcentury’s plans to build two of Europe’s largest solar power plants in Spain, demonstrating the UK’s leadership in the fight against climate change”.
