Former Arriva HR Director appointed by Solarcentury to join its executive team.

Solarcentury has appointed Debbie Hayes as HR Director. Debbie has a strong track record in human resources with 16 years of experience across several blue chip organisations in the media, marketing, retail, transport and financial service sectors, with particular experience in acquisitions, culture, organisation design and team development as well as in talent management.

Most recently, she was HR Director for Arriva Bus (UK) where she was responsible for 2,000 employees in 13 sites across southern England.

Prior to that she was HR Director for the UK’s leading airline catering provider, Gate Gourmet, responsible for 3,000 staff across the UK, Spain and Ireland. Her previous positions include Director roles at the Hilton, Whitbread, Gorkana and the Collinson Group.

Frans Van Den Heuvel, Chief Executive of Solarcentury said he was “delighted to welcome Debbie to the team”.

“Her experience and passion for people really shone through during the interview process and with a 16-year background in managing human resources as well as a wealth of international experience, Debbie will be a great asset to the company.”

Debbie said: “I am passionate about climate change and renewable energy. As one of Europe’s leading solar companies, Solarcentury will be really exciting to work for. In my first week here I’ve got to know the team in the UK and offices across the world, and I’ve been made to feel really welcome.

“I think that my background in talent acquisition and management will help us to put in place a structure which can support our ambitious growth plans. I also bring relevant experience in maintaining and further establishing a great culture and values in organisations that are growing fast. I can’t wait to get going.”

Debbie’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Solarcentury as it embarks on a period of growth across its global operations – including the development and completion of some of the largest and most technologically pioneering solar farms in Europe and Latin America.
